Elise has been carving "Attunement" in Red Granite from New Brunswick. She is one of 12 finalists in the Kingsbrae Garden Sculpture Competition in St. Andrews by-the-Sea, NB. The sculpture will be installed by May 11th, 2018. The stone was quarried in the mid 1800s by the St. George Red Granite Company. It was among other boulders left in a pile when the quarry stopped functioning. Another sculptor, Rob Bartlett, gave Elise the boulder that she chose in June when she was in St. Andrews for KIRA, Kingsbrae International Residency for the Arts. After her maquette for Attunement was chosen for the competition, the boulder was transported to Muskoka for carving. Elise is excited to finish the piece and return to Kingsbrae Gardens for the installation in their sculpture garden. It will be displayed for 2 years.
