Elise is pleased to be part of the 2019 Downtown Haliburton Sculpture Exhibition.  Her limestone sculpture "Dancers" will be in the courtyard in front of the Spa on Highland Street until the end of October and is available for purchase.  Thanks to Gary Mitchell for welding the steel base for the sculpture and to Cirvan for the installation with the help of a crane.  It was a warm welcome from Haliburton with a dinner, the nights accommodation, tour of the Sculpture Forest, tour of the sculptures downtown, and reception.  We had fun delivering the sculpture in the ole Jalopy.

Nuit Blanche North 2018 "A-MAZE-ing Answers" Labyrinth of Lights

8/4/2018

Last Saturday on July 28th we built a labyrinth of lights for Nuit Blanche North.  At the centre of the labyrinth there was a bowl where people could put an answer to the theme of So What Now? and exchange it for someone else's answer.  At times the labyrinth was very busy but near the end of the night people could walk the whole thing alone.  People often exclaimed how meaningful the answer they got was and a couple of times how silly.  I've posted a picture of the leftover answers so you can get an idea of what the responses were.  This was the 7th Nuit Blanche North that Elise has had an interactive activity for people of all ages.

Elise Muller is thrilled to announce that she won First Place in a national sculpture competition and was presented with a prize of $20,000.  Her St. George Red Granite sculpture "Attunement" will now be a permanent fixture in the Sculpture Garden in beautiful Kingsbrae Gardens in the Historic Resort town of St. Andrews By-the-Sea, New Brunswick.  Special thanks to Robert Bartlett for supplying the local granite boulder that was then shipped from NB to Muskoka for Elise to carve it and then brought back in Cirvan's truck for the installation when it was finished after Elise removed about half of the stones weight.

Inspired by Cirvan's original Mantis chair design, his clients requested barstools in the same style.  The result was outstanding.  With coopered backs and seats these Walnut and Maple barstools are really beautiful as well as comfortable.

Work in progress for the Kingsbrae Garden Canadian Sculpture Competition

Elise has been carving "Attunement" in Red Granite from New Brunswick.  She is one of 12 finalists in the Kingsbrae Garden Sculpture Competition in St. Andrews by-the-Sea, NB.  The sculpture will be installed by May 11th, 2018.  The stone was quarried in the mid 1800s by the St. George Red Granite Company.  It was among other boulders left in a pile when the quarry stopped functioning.  Another sculptor, Rob Bartlett, gave Elise the boulder that she chose in June when she was in St. Andrews for KIRA, Kingsbrae International Residency for the Arts.  After her maquette for Attunement was chosen for the competition, the boulder was transported to Muskoka for carving.  Elise is excited to finish the piece and return to Kingsbrae Gardens for the installation in their sculpture garden.  It will be displayed for 2 years.

Cirvan Hamilton has been busy designing and building 3 custom table bases with Compass Rose inlay to go under glass tops and a large order of cherry chairs to go with them.  The chairs were adapted from his original award-winning "Mantis" design so that they are the right height to be used as dining chairs.  The coopered backs and seats are very comfortable.
