STONECARVE SMALL SCULPTURES
Ages 10 and up
Learn how to design your sculpture, remove extra stone with a hacksaw, define with rifflers, sand smooth with polishing papers, and add finishing details after it has been oiled. Carve a small sculpture in a 3 hour workshop or have longer lessons using chisels & mallets to work on large pieces!
These necklaces were carved by two women at a workshop at the Rosseau.
Ages 6 and up
Come carve amulets in a 1.5 or 2 hour workshop. Think of a symbol and learn how to carve it out of soapstone or alabaster. It can be a touchstone or necklace. If you focus on an intention while carving it can have extra meaning.
Masks are just one of many possibilities at an Expressive Arts session.
Elise Muller has her post-grad certificate in Expressive Arts from Fleming College and a Healing With The Arts Certificate from University of Florida. Healing with the Arts / EXA sessions use a variety of media, visual arts, creative writing, music and movement, to help you relax and access your creativity! Research has shown how healing the arts can be and some doctors even prescribe art to their patients. Individual sessions can be arranged but it can also be fun to get a group of friends together for a couple of hours!
